Need more Apistos ID!

Hi,

this time I´m back with two pairs that I adquired in my LPS. They comes like Apistogramma "Papagayo" and the other one like Apistogramma "Shushupe". What do you think?

A. "papagayo" Male?

A. "papagayo" Female?

These both look like females. I'm not sure of this but I'd say they were A. sp. papagei

I am certain that this is A. bitaeniata. The top picture shows a male definitely and the bottom one could also be a male. I can't tell for sure because it's a little blurred. John

just based on the name, papagayo, is very similar to papagallo/papagei.
The same can be said about shushupe, which is possibly synonomous with shishita-bitaeniata.

The top fish are A. sp. Papagei/Parrot, probably a male & female. The bottom fish are A. bitaeniata. Many forms of A. bitaeniata are coming in with collecting localities now, although I know of no location calle Shushupe. It might be a misspelling of of Shishita, a tributary of the Rio Ampiyacu.

bita - "Shushupe" does exist.
I first came across this name in 2004.
This bita came from Peru and some specimen
have largely extended dorsal fins. We could find it
in SouthernApistos.com:

The top fish is A. bitaeniata, of course. The female in the last photo looks more like A. sp. Pebas. Wait until she spawns. If she has 4 or more flank spots (not including the caudal patch), then she is A. sp. Pebas.
