I was lucky enough to pick up four of five of these at a recent killifish event. I was surprised to find when reading up on them that they only reach around 1-1/2" in length...? They are already about that large.

Though they are so far extremely shy, I'm really enjoying them - have them in a 50 gallon with a pair of scriptaphyosemion guignardi. Lots of java moss, other plants and a big piece of driftwood. I haven't checked the pH, but the water is maybe 70% RO.

I've kept and spawned Nannacara anomala; should this fish receive the same care?

Any advice or sharing of experience would be very welcome!

Hello, by the way, new to the forum, but not to aquaria or apistos. Have been lurking for a while, and finally decided to join so I could post this question!

I think that your conditions are fine. Your killies should be no problem either, although don't they grow a little larger than the N. taenia? N. taenia in not a real fry predator, but any fish that can catch one will eat it.

Thanks for the reply, Mike. The killies are a little longer than the nannacara, but they're quite slender and not at all aggressive.

The taenia, on the other hand, seem to spend most of the day going at each other. They like to gather in the open water when nobody's close to the tanks and wage little battles. So far, the damage is slight and seems to be distributed more or less evenly among all the individuals. So far, they mostly ignore the killies.

I'm beginning to think I might have 5 males...what kind of luck is that?
