Yes, on dozens of different occasions over the past 35 years. Back in the 70s & 80s they were the most common dwarf cichlid available. They are easy to breed. Most water values are OK, as long as it isn't too extreme.

I used to order 100 Dwarf Cichlids at a time when I had a fish shop. I always hoped for assorted Apistogramma species but some times I would end up with 100 Nannacara anomala.
They are incredibly easy to keep and breed. I would often have females guarding eggs they laid in the corners of the tank right out in the open.
This was back when aquariums still had steel frames.
I swear these dwarf Cichlids would spawn in a plastic bag if they were ready to spawn and had no other choice.
Given more typical breeding tank conditions the females always were very good parents.

Nannacara anomala were once a very popular as lab animals in animal behavioral studies by many famous ethologists.
They have many different color patterns and fin flicking behaviors they use to communicate with their fry.
The fry are easily raised on newly hatched brine shrimp, mikroworms or even powdered tropical fish food. They are an ideal beginner's Dwarf Cichlids. The much larger males are very colorful and have much longer fins than the females. Females are often only half as large as the males. It is funny to see how a tiny brooding female can wail the daylights out of a male that intrudes too close to the nest.
