Hello eveyone, I'm new here.
Currently have a pair of Nanochromis parilus. Both have been living in a community tank with other species from the Congo region. They are normally very active and have voracious appetites.
Quite suddenly, the day before yesterday, I noticed that the male did not rush up for food as he usually did (and had earlier that day). Instead he was resting on the sand behind some driftwood.
He seemed lethargic, and has not eaten much since then. His finnage looks fine, really great in fact. But his behavior is srange - less active, no appetite, and doesn't chase the female around as he did before.
I'm not sure if he has some disease, or internal parasites, or if he is simply stressed by other tankmates (I think the female laid eggs recently, and pehaps he got stressed trying to defend them from synodontis etc.)
He has shown some evidence of being a bit unsteady for a while now, and I'm not sure if that's related.
Now I've removed the pair to a separate, smaller tank of their own. I'm not sure this will work either as the female is ready to lay again and is actually bugging him quite a bit.
If anyone has had a similar experiance, advice on treatment and so on would be much apprciated.
