minimum tank dimensions

I'm going to build shelf for apistos this or next year.(not so big like blueblue's )

I've a question about tanks:
Will be tank w/ dimensions 50x25x30 cm (LxWxH) good for apistos???
I'm going to have some bigger tanks for example 50x40x30 cm, but if have more tanks i will have more apisto species... I think so

Your dimensions are those of a 10 US gallon aquarium. While I have successfully bred many apisto species in 10s, I believe that they are the minimum size. If you are also making your tanks, a better size is 60x30x25 cm / 24x12x10".

How many apistos can I keep in the smallest tank (50x25x30 cm)?
One pair? Or more?

P.S. I insist on the smallest tank dimnesions, because my shelf won't be big:
2 layers, 150 cm long, approx. 50cm wide.
I'm going to put on higher 3X 50x40x30cm + 1X 50x30x30 cm and on lower 6X 50x25x30cm. What do you think about my plan?

For these small tanks, a pair is best. Keep additional small tanks available to separate the partners when they start fighting.
