Does the fish's ability to see other fish in the tank beside it have any affect on breeding?

I have multiple tanks next to each other that don't have the sides of the glass blacked out so the fish can see each other tank to tank. Does this have any effect on behavior, specifically breeding behavior? I have two different species of apistos next to each other in tanks and they can see each other.

Depends on a lot of factors such as size of fish distance to fish and species of fish. It can definitely make a fish feel less secure or more nervous which could impact breeding.

that was my impression too. I'm going to black out the sides of my tanks just incase. I have Trifasciata and Agassizi next to each other, along with a tank of Trifacsiata and Hongsloi next to each other and I know they could see each other. I can't get them to breed, even with RO water, live foods, ideal tank setups, etc. I got one spawn from the Agassizzis and that was it. I'm trying to figure out whats going on and this was a thought I had.

Take a piece of black cardboard, cut it to size, put it between the tanks. Takes 2 minutes and shouldn't cost you more than maybe one or two bucks and a trip to the stationery shop.

Yep, did that last night! I'm going to observe them the next few days and see if any behavior changes.
