Selling Macmasteri Juveniles - UK North West

Hi.
I have around 30 macmasteri juveniles available. I hadn't expected this high a survival rate in a community tank, so I need to rehome them.
They are currently about 14 weeks old, and rang in size from 1 to 2 cm.
Thought I'd ask on here first, before trying any of the LFS.
I'm in South Manchester, and the fish would need to be collected, but you can have one or all, or something in between, open to offers.

Stores usually take them at 4cm length. Try ebay classifieds or something similar, too.
Also to prevent this in the future separate the parents.

Nice one @IanR. What else was in this community tank?

@MacZ - why should the OP separate the parents? There might be a reasonable market for the fish.

I’ve seen plenty of Apistos for sale in shops at less than 4cm. Some of the (Czech?) fish for sale at Maidenhead Aquatics are very small.

Hi @MacZ - this isn't my first time breeding these guys, I've just never had such a high survival rate in a community tank before.

@KenL there are around 20 assorted tetras, including cardinals. It's only a 60cm tank, but from the moment the fry were out with the mother everything in the tank was herded into one corner of the tank. The parents were really enthusiastic about that.
Both parents were from Maidenhead Aquatics

Population control. I always advise against breeding unless one has somebody that guarantees buying them. I'd never "produce" more fish without that, especially as the chance of resulting in runts is high in a community tank.

And this is the main reason Mike, I and many others say a community tank is not a breeding tank. I've seen this end in dead tetras and catfish.

@MacZ I've got 3 lfs who've said they'd have them when they're a little bigger, so that's fine, I just thought I'd offer them to the community first.
I've been surprised by the aggression of the parents, that's all. I kept apistos for around 10 years previously and even my Inca50 or Paduro were not this fierce.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
