Laetacara araguaiae

So these little guys have been on my wish list since an AFM article back in the mid 90's on the genus. It was always of case of when I had tank space and money, they weren't available. When they were available, tanks were in storage. Ugh.

Needless to say I was running to the window every time a heard a truck while waiting for them to arrive today. Looking at the pics, I'm guessing they are the purple race instead of the blue?

Sorry for the bad pics, best I had to work with was a camcorder. (Hopefully the new site resizes the pics like the old site did ... )

Thanks. I am thoroughly enjoying them thus far.

Does anyone happen to know which river systems the purple race come from versus the blue race? I know the over all range, just not sure on the color forms.

I was lucky enough in 2005 or 2006 to get a pair of these beautiful Laetacara and reproduced them. Unfortunatly I lost all of their youths and then I lost the pair. Ever since I'm looking for them and I cannot find them in Canada anywhere. Anybody could help me to get them back in my tanks? I'm in Quebec Canada. Thanks!
