Krib health issues

I switched 2 Kribs from one tank to another. Now 1 died and the other is struggling. I got some melafix and pimafix and removed krib into a small bowl and treated. The water quality seems to be fine, and no other fish seem to be struggling breathing. Now the one that died seemed to have a swollen belly. The only other signs of possible issue, which I initially chalked up to fin nipping, is my male ram and 3 out of 6 tetras seem to have some frayed/rotting fins which could be a sign of an issue now that I am having problems with the kribs. So....

Does this sound like something easily treatable, and if so what should I do to fix what seems to be some kind of problem. This is first real bout with a potential bacteria or fungus or whatever it is.

Ok, I keep losing these little fishies. Other than a couple starter fish at beginning of cycling my tank I have not lost any fish other than 4 kribs. All the lost Kribs were bought at the same store. I have 1 pair left currently which have formed a pair. These 2 were both bought at a different place than the 4 I lost. I have heard these fish are relatively hardy, so I am wondering if it could be the store I am buying from, or if theres something going around....

All other fish seem pretty healthy

sorry why did you intially move the fish, were they looking ill so you qt them?
were they fighting the pair versus other kribs

did you match the waters in the two tanks

eroded/frayed fins if due to fin rot(columnaris bacteria sp) is usually very easiy treated as it is often secondary to either trauma or water issues and onc these are improved then healing will be quick

swollen belly's can be for multiple reasons , fluid accumulation, gas accumulation, intestinal obstructions or heavy parasite burdens, and growths
are the fish eating ?
what are there stool like?
do you know whether they are wild caught or tank bred

I loved them because a pair formed. Water conditioners were better in the new tank they were moved too, although most parameters were the same. They showed no real sign of problem other than heavy breathing, which didnt occur until new tank. One looked bloated after he died, te ither didnt. Other than that thye looked normal. A couple other fish have frayed fins, but since it was only 3 saller tetras(larger testras fins are fine) and 1 Ram, I chalked it up to fin nipping.

so the water was mature and you weren't concerned by ammonia or nitrite issues , these could cause increased respiration rates

andrew

ps i have had fish go slowly though with similar signs that i attributed to tb on crude pm, i did not specifically do microscopy of spleen or other internal organs

I wasnt concerned with water. Ammonia was .25, but didnt think that would kill them in 2 days. everything else read good.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
