i have perhaps thirty caca fry in a 12 gallon. I unfortunately do not have a grow out tank. I have noticed that the largest at about one centimetre has began to peck the others. Is there any advice to stall aggression until i get them large enough to sell on? or should i just let them fight it out? and is the tank too small?

I'm sorry to say that the tank is too small. Either sell most of them now as fry or expect to lose or stunt most of them. Either way most will not be worth the cost of trying to grow them out in such a small tank.

I would think that 6 fish in a 12 gallon tank should work quite well. Fry of ~1cm should be able to acclimate to most other water condition if done carefully.
