Are Jewel Fish considered dwarf cichlids? I saw some listed on a site that said that they get up to 6 inches, which seems rather large for a dwarf. I suppose it might be the individual species.
I consider Hemichromis as a genus of 'small cichlids'. Some species, like the H. cristatus forms, remain under 4"/10cm and are relatively peaceful. Others, like the H. fasciatus-like forms, can grow larger than 8"/20cm and are highly aggressive and predatory.
