There are some juvenile adoteka for sale online but they are expensive @ 25 pounds for two. I do not have alot of space, just 34 gallons 3ft by 1ft and cannot afford to buy several and wait for a pairing. Am I right in predicting that i am likely to get two males if i gamble? I desperately want to house these fish but do not want a disaster and they will be impossible to take back.

You can spot males and females if you can get them in person. Otherwise, you may get all one sex if you buy online. Typical spawn has more males than females and whoever selling them may decide to pick all one sex for you.

The odds of getting a pair by just buying two is practically nil. They are very picky when it comes to pairing up--it is always best to get 10-15 and put them in one tank. Let them choose up, remove the losers, put them in another tank and then repeat.
