I just wanna breed them Tripple reds

Hi I always wanted to breed egg laying fish and these seem like a good canidate. Apistogramma cacatuoides triple red are beautiful and they don't need much space.

But the question is how do I breed them? I have never gotten egg fish to do this before. What parameters should I target? Is there anything special I need for them?

They should do fine in your tap water. If it's just a breeding tank then you will do fine with a few caves most of us use coconut shells and some java moss. If you want something nicer then you can add driftwood and different plants, but you need the caves either way. After that it's just a matter of giving them a mix of flake and live or frozen food and presto you have baby cacatuoides.

Is there anything special I need for them?

Yes, patience........lots and lots of patience. My cac's have been together for 2-3 mths, every week they go through the motions of courtship, inspecting caves together, herding dithers to the corners and then nothing. Good luck, won't happen overnight but it will happen.......hopefully:frown:

Relax there mike, normally i feed them well and take noted any different behaviour... As what i mean as feed them well, my method is simple...
Feed live food fatten them up...
Always use fresh adult brine shrimp and few weeks my female start displaying bright yellow dressing that's when magic happens..:biggrin:
