Hi my name is Victor and I'm from Argentina, time ago I started with Apsitogramma, After a while keeping Killis I decided to try with this genus.
I have few species of Apisto now and in the last weeks I started to get spawn of many of them (commbrae, cacatuoides, Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis) I keep every species in a specific tank with a lot of plants, boiled leaves and dried wood.
My question is I have the females watching for they fry but what should I do now, should I take the fry out, the male?
Regards.
Victor

If your Apistos are doing a great job of brooding their fry you can leave them in until they begin behaving like another spawn is imminent. The problem is sometimes there won't be much warning.
I figure a month is long enough to enjoy the majority of their behaviors at the different stages of development. Many Apistogramma fry begin to disperse about then anyway so there isn't much to gain from waiting longer.
That is the way I approach this question but perhaps other's have some good reasons for waiting longer.

Thanks a lot for your reply, so that is what I'm going to do, Although I think that take the fry out of the tank it's going to be very interesting with all the hiding places that they have in the acuarium
Thanks again

Trying to catch the fry is very hard. That is why if I don't plan on removing the eggs for artificial hatching, I will use a 20 gallon long and leave the fry but remove the breeders.

Thanks for your reply, yes I think that I will try to do the same, take the parents out. I tried to did that with the male of Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis but It was almost impossible to take him out, so I just did leave him and I will see what happen.
Regard.
