Hi. So glad to find a website like this. Im from australia, and have only kept fish for about 1 year now and only had tropical for about 7 months, but i started with a 2 foot gold fish tank and now have 3 2 ft and 1 4 by 2 ft tank..
Any way i love the Apitogramma fish, known down here as a cockatoo cichlid and you could get any sorta Apisto if you just asked for that..

I have a female A. Cacatoides (orange flash i think..only say this cause the colur on all her fins are more orange then anything else and i cant find a pic of a feamle orange flash to compare and i havent got one to post)... She is about 3 - 4 cms. i think still a young fish as her colurs are slowy working up and down her fins.
My girlfriend has a large male he is also a A. Cacatoides (i think) and he would be very close to 8 - 10 cms long, but he has yellow on his fins with specs of dark spots and red.

Is he a Cacatoides? (if you need a pic ill get one very soon)
Is the red, double and triple reds, and orange flash just diferent colour Cacatoides?
How do i know if she is old enough to breed?
Is the male i discribed to big for her at the moment??

Hope i havent asked to much but i have heaps more i wanna know and learn as i wanna bred this fish. So ill be back with more breding questions soon..

I have photos now. ill post two of the male im intending to introduce. These are the 2 fish described above.. Well i spose ill just have to email them to who ever is intrested..

Thanks apistodave for the links.. the female isnt as colour full as that but hence why i think she is young.
