Hi new to the site want some opinions please

Hi I saw some apistogramma's for sale at LFS and thought they were nice looking, I didn't get any names of them. I have a 120 gallon long with 6 parkinsoni rainbows, 5 neon dwarf rainbows, 2 blue paradise, 2 black paradise and 3 cory cats. How many would you suggest will be a good amount, don't care about breeding but if it happens that's a plus. Thanks

Lots of room in a 120 for Apistos. You could put six in easily enough. I would go with two males and four females if possible. One think to consider, however, is gettign food to them. Apistos are not super aggressive eaters, and rainbows are. Especially the larger Melanotaenia sp. They tend to let very little reach the bottom where the apistos will be. There are some tricks to saolve the problem (other than way over feeding), so do not let that stop you from trying the apistos. If the water is right for the bows, it is probably moderately hard adn alkaline. The best apisto for those conditions would be A. cacatuoides.
