Hey Everyone,
Photographing a trio of Apistogramma sp. "Black-Chin/Schwarzkinn" I picked up yesterday and noticed some fin damage in the extended hard dorsal rays on my male. I'm on good terms with owner the store they were purchased from and an exchange is perfectly fine, however I don't want to do it unnecessarily.
The third and fourth rays appear to be cracked off at the tips, but I'm not experienced enough to be positive. The third ray I would probably shrug off as membrane damage and more than likely to regrow, but the fourth ray extension seems very narrow. I'm quite pedantic of fish quality, and consider these rays as an important trait with Apistogramma, especially on the centrepiece fish of a new setup that I've bombed a fair amount of money on!
Couple of very average comparison photos from a friends slightly larger male.
Cheers,
Ryan.
