gibbiceps spawned!

It turns out that I have a female A. gibbiceps after all I had thought they were all males when I recieved them. Last night though, I saw one of them that was slightly yellow aligned with another gibbiceps duking it out with my L. dorisgera that had just spawned. Today my curiosity got the better of my patience and I lifted up the piece of wood they were defending so vehemently and presto! There are about 50-100 red eggs or so.

I used RO and Seachem's acid buffer to get a pH of about 5.5. The crazy thing is that I haven't done a water change on that tank in about two months! Yet the fish just continue to suprise me

Congrats on the spawn!! Keep us posted on how it goes. If they are protecting the area it is a good sign the eggs are fertile.

Gibbiceps spawned

Hi apistogrammsam,
Congrats on your fish spawning. I had 3 I found in a tank of cardinal tetras that were too small to I.D. They grew up and I had a reverse trio that spawned a couple times in a tetra community but I did'nt raise any. They are a nice Apisto and not all that common. Wish you success.
