Hey guys,
My female A. Cacatuoides lay some eggs in a small flower pot I planted in the tank. I notice that she tend to eat most of her eggs as I observed this with my own eyes. I don't really see her coming out to eat, is she eating her eggs due to hunger?

Here is a picture of the female actually eating her own eggs.

hello
it is not impossible to eat her eggs especially if it is her first spawn , but are you sure that she is not just cleaning them ?

Yea I check the cave again, and the eggs were gone. This is her third plus time laying eggs there. They never seem to survive her wraith....

She may be eating them because she doesn't feel secure. Try a coconut cave or turning the pot around so you can't see in it. I know that makes it harder to see if she has spawned but some just don't like to be disturbed.

The eggs were fertilize, it was red. Maybe I did scare them by keep looking into the pot.

You may need to lift the pot after the first day to ensure you get fry. Just switch it out with another pot. Protect your investment. Take the next spawn. Just in case something happens to the parents, you still have fry to continue on with.
