Hello all! I am something of a fish nut who lives in the United States. I do not currently own any apistos, but I am looking for a showcase fish for my 29 gallon aquarium and heard that some apistos are subtropical and would do well in it (my tank can get as low as 64 degrees Fahrenheit!). Have any suggestions for apistos? If this helps, my water has a PH of 7.8 and a TDS of 173 ppm.

Ive read that Apistogramma borelli can thrive in lower temperatures, and i think cacatuoides will do well in the higher pH ranges, but you need that combination of both parameters being good. If you can get pH and hardness down, you should be able to keep borelli fine. If you can get temp up, you should be able to keep cacatuoides.
