Digital cameras... help!

I have been given a digital camera as a gift. Actually I have been given a budget to spend on a digital camera as a gift. (I am starting to think that just giving me a camera would have been nicer... these things are complicated 8O )

I have narrowed my search down to a Nikon 4500. Before I buy it, I want to know if anyone has had any experience with this camera, or any reason to 'stay away'.

The Nikon 995, I have been told, is the 'bomb' for fish pics. That model has been discontinued. The 4500 seems to be an updated version of the 995.

I have a digital Nikon (I forget the model but it cost $399) and I think it's the greatest thing since my 35mm SLR! LOOOOOVE the camera.
