Decap BBS eggs

Anyone feed decap bbs eggs to their Apistos fry? Just curious as to if the fry will take them. I know Apistos can be picky eaters and don't really want to waste money of foods they won't eat. Mine don't touch the frozen daphnia I bought so I don't want the same results. I am wanting to buy some more BBS but decap seems to be cheaper than live hatching. I am looking to buys some from brineshrimpdirect.com. Has anyone delt with these guys?

Yeah, decap will work fine. You need to soak them in a vessel of water for several minutes prior to feeding them to your fish, however. Soaking them allows them to absorb some water outside the fish, instead of inside the gut of the fish. Be careful not to over feed; a TINY bit goes a LONG way.

Thanks for the help. I think I'm gonna go with both decap and non-decap. There is jus something about live food for the fry that I like. Decap will be for the days I'm lazy to hatch lol.

i buy all my brime shrimps from brineshrimpdirect.com. never head any problems , they also have great freeze dried foods !

Hi all,
I've used these from TA Aquaculture in the UK, and they seem to work OK. I had the same idea and am feeding mine with some banana or microworms to elicit the feeding response.

To avoid confusion Darrel means Banana Worms - not the fruit.

Thanks Mike, you are right Bananas would be both a bit large and without sufficient wriggle. I'm really impressed with Banana worms (poss. Panagrellus nepenthicola), they are more prolific than micro-worms and a bit smaller.
