thanks. I knew the video for a long time, but it was almost impossible to find the fish without a timestamp.

This one I presume?

My guess: C. meinkeni

Or something very closely related.

Exactly, that one.
Yeah! Meinkeni, would be my guess aswell.
I just couldn’t find any reports of it being collected in the tapajos.

Type locality, catch locality and overall range do not have to overlap. ;) Often you know the first and second, but the third is unclear.

According to this paper on Copella taxonomy, C. Meinkeni is a junior synonym of C. Nattereri, which does occur in the mouth of the Tapajós.

I also have some Copella that I am not sure about…

Arghh!!!
The “Copella-naming-struggle” continues.
I have just found this paper that states that Copella nattereri can be found in mouth of Rio tapajos.
So, the question is.. is that the old or new name for nattereri? I have seen both callolepis and meinkeni named as nattereri (-judging from the pictures).

My understanding of nattereri is: Black middle band with one or two lines of red dots. -correct?

Here is the link to the paper.

Last question… is this c. Meinkeni? (-disclaimer: I have no reason, what it shouldn’t be what they say, it’s just because I’m cinfused)

Yes, meinkeni is a Junior synonym of nattereri. I posted about this last night and linked the paper, but moderators are still looking at the post apparently so can’t be seen yet.

Well that post hasn't appeared, I am not sure if I am allowed to attach the papers but will try, one I think is the one you have already seen; the other (earlier) describes C. nattered, and the supplementary material one lists two species from the lower Tapajos, natterreri and callolepis.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
