Help IDing stressed store find: Apistogramma borellii - male & female?

Hi everyone! Today at my local aquarium store, I found two cichlids in the community tank, but I’m not sure what species they might be (the salesperson said they were Borelli). Can you help me identify whether they’re definitely Apistogramma borelli, and specifically whether they’re a male and a female? The fish were pale, probably from stress, and were also kept in a community tank with a large number of other fish. I know they’ve been there for some time, but they still look more like juveniles. I also know they were fed exclusively dry food. I’m interested in buying a compatible pair of these fish, and I thank everyone in advance for your help. I’ve attached a few photos, I tried to capture them as best as I could.

I’m also going through a similar thing, these are both borellii but I can’t tell if male and female or both female. They’ve been in the tank 2 days.

There are yellow morps of A. borellii although rare in the present hobby. I would guess the first photo shows a female. The second is anyone's guess. In a couple of month you should know.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
