I am an American expat living in Bangkok, Thailand. I’ve kept Apistos for several years now and am familiar with many that are available here in Thailand, both from the wild and bred in captivity. I recently ran into a pair that was sold as sp. purple. After I did more research I think they are Ap. Pebas (I don’t know if that should be “sp.” as well) I’ve never seen these in Thailand before and they were from the wild. I want to make sure what I have as they’ve had a successful hatching and I’m raising the fry and would like to make them available to more people here with the correct name. They have a beautiful coloration that is not like any one I’ve raised or seen here before. I’m adding some pictures I took a few days ago…

Yes they look like A. cf. ortegai (Pebas) aka A. sp. Pebas.
