Cacutoides Female eating eggs problem

I have had this pair of triple red cacs for over 6 months now and not once has she had a successful batch of fry. She seems to always eat her eggs. I have A. borelli and A. resticulosa in the same wet/dry system who have spawned and I have had good healthy batches of fry from each. I have soft water, 1GH, ph between 6.8 and 7.0.

Does someone have any suggestions on what I can do to have some luck with this issue?
Thanks.

Sometimes the apisto couples need to spawn a couple of times until they succed to bring up some kids. Some of my apistos have been spawning 5-6 times until they did it right! :)

Best regards

alikhanweb,

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

P.W. is quite correct. But, if your pair has spawned many times unsuccessfully, there may be something else occurring. Water sounds good. There is just some fish that don't get it right. That doesn't happen too often. There is usually one thing or another that you can tinker with to get them to not eat the eggs. You may need to set them up in their own breeding tank. The fiemale might feel threatened by the other fish in the tank and assume that they will be eaten eventually anyway, so she beats them to it.

Thanks Neil.

I borrowed a triple red cac female from a friend whose male is going to be kickin' the bucket soon. See if I have any luck with that.
