Cacatuoides Sunburst - Abnormal Dorsal Fin?

Hello,

Newbie here looking for some help. I have a male and female that have a different type of dorsal fin than the rest. It appears to be two separate fins or segmented. The front portion looks typical but the last third never goes down or relaxes like the front half. See attached image for a better idea.

Is this a defect or does this happen from time to time?

Thanks,
Damon

Like all domestic strains, the sunburst is highly inbred. This leads to defects that occur from time to time. Sadly, such traits can be passed on to offspring. I wouldn't recommend using such fish as breeding stock.
