Checking my tanks and noticed pair was not on patrol, but females head sticking out of cave. Looked into cave and saw number of large oval eggs on floor of cave(creame colored). Need to know if eggs are good/how long it takes to turn into fry. Any help appreciated.

When I spawned C. notophthalmus and regani the eggs were cream colored and hatched in about 3 days and the it took probably another 4-5 before the babies were free swimming.
A piece of advice about dwarf pike pairs, they seem to go through "divorces" rather commonly, especially the notos. The regani I've bred seemed to be better but they were in a 55G with lots of other fish to pick on.
So if I was you, I'd remove the male or put a lot of dither fish in there. Probably easier to remove the male.

Re: Cren.Wallacei

Wallacei eggs gone from cave roof and floor and pair is once again on patrol. They are showing no signs of guarding any other spot so just another frustrating fish event. Thanks for info.

Are these the Colombian variant (ones with the orange rimmed dorsal ocelli in females) or the oringal Guyana variant (females don't have dorsal spots)?

The Colombian ones are found in the Rio Atapabo, so super soft water might be required for fertilizing them ... still, even getting eggs is good. I find these guys even more aggressive towards each other than the noto's. Well, at least the Colombian ones. Still searching for the Guyana or Rio Branco ones.

Also, despite what many vendors are selling them as, the correct species name is spelled wallacii ...
