Hey guys,

I never had something like a little breeding tank and i just got the opportunity to buy a little tank really cheap. The size is, 33x33cm with a high of 42cm, it contains 45L which is about 11 gallon i think.
I plan on holding 1 pair of apistogramma Baenchi inka 50 in there, what do you guys think will it be big enough?

Big thanks already

No, not really. Are the A. baenschi new fish or fish you already have that have shown that they are compatible? If these are new fish then there is a good chance that they will not be compatible and eventually one will die from abuse or stress related illness. If they are compatible, they might live in such a small tank together and even breed. The problem with breeding in such a small tank is the fry. A. baenschi are known for their productivity (>100 fry). How do you plan to keep all of these fish alive and healthy in only 45 L of water? Other species are more likely to be successful in such an aquarium, but you still need to think about moving the fry rather quickly to a larger tank.

These would be new fish. I can also go for the cactuoides or the borreli or the macmasteri since these are also apistogramma's that i really like and all are available to me. If i managed to get to the stage where i actually got sufficient fry surviving i can move them to my other tank which is bigger so i can spread the fry :)

I'd recommend a pair of A. borellii, or better, A. sp. Wangenflecken if you can find them. Even with these species the tank is too small unless properly decorated.

Will make sure it's properly decorated with lots of wood, plants and leaves to hide incase needed.
Thanks a lot for all the help mike! (you are really wise :p )
