I feed mostly brine shrimp, both live bbs and frozen. Bug Bites are basically a weekly suppliment. Yes, red are more subdued but still red, not orange/yellow that occurs with fish fed a primarily dry diet. Oh, my apistos ignore Bug Bites flakes, but my other fish love them.

I was feeding some of my sub 1/4 inch tetra bits of omega-one flakes and noticed the wc elizabeth gobbling them down so maybe it comes down to species or mood or whatever. Btw it was the wc elizabeth that i was feeding live bbs to for several months as they were next to the hatchery. I shut it down for now. In truth none of the species of apistogramma i ahve seem that picky 'cept for maybe the wolli (not 100% sure since they always hide) and well that seems to be it.

Maybe we should catalogue the species to see if there is a commonality on pickiness or maybe they get use to me feeding them they just relaize whatever i put in there is probably food.

So my wild caught a. norbert who had never had flakes before had no problem gobbling down these 'colour' enhancing flakes by fluval though will note the first couple of seconds they didn't quite understand what i was putting in the tank until the dominant male viciously attacked one of the flakes.

As to whether i can put the red back in the fish not sure if it needs to be done when they are young or if it will reform at an older age but if i remember i'll report back in 60 or 90 days.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
