Apistogramma mendezi

I would like to know a little about these since I have a trio. One of my questions is how either rare are they or just hard to get.

Afraid I have never owned them so I don't have an answer but i wonder where you got them from? I'd like to get in line now for any future fry!

A. mendezi isn't really rare commercially. It is available in Europe (Germany at least) and Asia several times each year. They are less common in North America because of cost. Importers are not interested in offering them because most hobbyists won't buy them for the price needed to bring them in.

I actually acquired them from a big batch of A. gibbiceps. I also managed to get a pair of A. meinkeni from the same batch. Thanks

That's one weird collection, considering that A. meinkeni is not found anywhere near where A. mendezi or A. gibbiceps occur.

Well I dont really know if they are A. meinkeni since they are very young to tell. I can tell you that they have bigger eyes that the A. mendezi.
