I got these wilds from an european importer (the first F0 Apistos I ever worked with) and they came quite in bad shape. After 4 months recovering, eating the best I could give them, these is how they are:

I recently separated a trio in a 120 litre aquarium and after a little more than a week:

... these photos were taken about 2 weeks ago, they are now growin larger and I guess I have near 40 four week old fry. I'll post new photos as soon as I can.

Edit (forgot to say this): one thing I notested is that only one of the females is breeding succesfully... the other one - not the alpha I guess - lays the eggs but ends up eating them... I guess is stress related from being arassed by the alpha female. The male seams no to care at all about what happens, just as long as it's possible to mate :) . The tank is one meter long what, according to some literature should be sufficient for two female territories, but as I see everyday, for the alpha femal te territory is the entire tank.

Ok... the juves are now 2 months old and I notest that the growth speed has slowed down emensly, although they're now showing the typical markings of the species and some colour.

One thing that amazed me was that I had a trio 2F-1M in a 120 litre aquarium, 100cm front, and since this spawn took place the female that laid the eggs (I'll call her first) never lost the breeding dress. The sencond female spawned 3 of 4 times during this period and ended up eating the eggs or small fry soon after they were born. By now, both the females are sharing the protective behaviour twards the juves of the first one and both of them are showing breeding dresses all the time.

The male is a bit more shy than the females.

I'll post new photos soon.

The dominant male and the dominat female will take over the whole tank... others will slowly start to to get more and more shy.
