Hello guys, i recently bought a pair of aApistogramma, the seller says it’s wildcaught but he didn’t really know what type of apistogramma. So can anyone tell me please?.

Also, which commercial fish food brand do you guys recommend, and for live food, i’m feeding them with Hikari frozen bloodworms infused with Vitamin from Brightwell aquatics. I just want them to reach their full potential. Thanks alot guys

I believe Frank's ID is correct. To be positive I would need to know where the fish were collected and a specimen preserved in methyl alcohol (a very bad idea!).

As for food, variety is best. Bloodworms tend to have a bad reputation among apistophiles. I use them on occasion, too, but mostly feed live baby and frozen adult brine shrimp, plus occasional pellets (Bug Bites) maybe once each week.

Hopefully one of our more knowledgeable members will come along and help you. I just wanted to say, he's a beauty! I'm assuming the mirror was just there for the photo op?

(oops!, thanks Frank!!)

Thank you, yes u are right. The mirror only for the photo. The fish is indeed a gem, i’m a Vietnamese and recently i moved to the US, i tryna find seller with good fish here but no hope. So i bought it from Vietnam and ship it back to here.

I think the seller told me that this fish is collected in the Rio Inirida river, i have bad memory sorry .

I think i will change to frozen adult brine shrimp too. But i’m afraid that frozen adult bs will have no nutritional value left.

And i just bought Xtreme fish food from a LFS. I spend 5hours last night to find which is the best Fish food brand it’s so hard to pick 1 that tick all the boxes

Why do you think it has no nutritional value? The issue with bbs is they don't eat they consume the egg sack when they hatch so after a few days the sack is consumed and they have less nutritional value but adult brine shrimp eat food. Also there is myst shrimp - a little larger but i find adults can eat it fine.

To be honest i mostly feed my adult fluval bug bite ground up so it is fairly fine. They do get some bbs (live) and frozen myst/brine shrimp but it is mostly a treat rather than a regular thing.
my diet for them would be pellets in the morning (just a few) and then live/frozen food at night. Do you think this is okay?

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
