More than 3 months ago I received this species named as Apistogramma sp. Segelflossen, I was talking to the seller but he was not sure if these fish were correct, they now have a good size to identify, I hope you will help me with the correct id.

Greetings

To me the abdominal markings look different than in A. sp. Segelflossen. The latter typically show 2 rows of large dots/blotches which are mostly located on the posterior or middle part of the scales. Do you have any information on the catch location?
They are more like iniridae
Do your fish sometimes show pronounced abdominal bars as known from A. iniridae? In this case they are most likely A. sp. Blutkehl.

Hello @Frank_H The only information that the seller gave me is that they are from Colombia. He did not give me exact information about the river.

As I said earlier, it doesn't look like Segelflossen to me either. Unfortunately, the new photos don't help me much in figuring out what it is...

Frank then is also ruled out to be A. sp. Blutkehl? , this fish is very difficult to find the id
On the photos I have seen so far they don't show such pronounced dark bars below the lateral band as known from Blutkehl and iniridae. Or do they merely show them when you don't make photos? ;)

To me it looks like A. uaupesi (whatever that is) from Brazil. Several apistophiles, me included, are not sure about the validity of the uaupesi-like forms. Is A. uaupesi is a superspecies like A. agassizii that includes many scientifically described/undescribed species or is it a single species with subtly different-appearing populations? We will only know for certain when genetic studies are carried out.

@Mike Wise It is very true what you say but this fish is from Colombia, does this change with respect to the form of uaupesi from Brazil?
