Again, why 24 hours? It depends on which preparation you get. If it says 48 hours in the instructions, stick to the instructions. The instructions will also say to remove it after the treatment, usually with a 80% waterchange and using active carbon for 48 hours.

Can the fish survive 28 days in a quarantine tank with RO water + medication, without substrate/sand and without leaves (in an empty tank)???
Sorry for my perhaps silly questions, and thank you for your patience with me.
Use plastic plants and still add leaves to offer them cover, even though you don't add sand. The leaves are expendable and the plants can be disinfected.

As an active ingredient, fenbendazole has a solubility in water of 0.05 µg/L at pH values between 6 and 7.5, which is virtually nonexistent. To clarify, fenbendazole is the same as Panacur. This substance has extremely low solubility in water, approximately 0.000005–0.000007 g per liter. The same is mentioned with Praziquantel. Gypsum has a solubility of 2.14 g/L, meaning fenbendazole’s solubility in water is several hundred thousand times lower. So it’s obvious why this stuff is so hard to remove from the aquarium! You can’t get the active ingredient in liquid form either. By the way, suspensions make no difference compared to tablets. That’s why solubility doesn’t increase. Crushing Panacur tablets doesn’t produce a solution either, but merely turns them into a suspension.
Fenbendazole does not dissolve. It therefore remains in the aquarium and sinks to the bottom. There, it is ingested by shrimp, snails, and catfish. Shrimp, in particular, will eat just about anything lying around.
2. Fenbendazole is not absorbed through the intestines, which means it won’t have a massive impact on shrimp. A little bit, of course, always.
3. This medication is administered orally to dogs, cats, mice, horses, and the like. Meaning: it isn’t absorbed into the bloodstream. This is one reason why shrimp enthusiasts observe that this stuff has little to no effect on shrimp.
4. It sinks to the bottom or disappears into the substrate. So a water change alone won’t get rid of it! As a result, for snails, mussels, and the like, aquariums treated this way automatically become a medical no-go zone. Meaning: Panacur in the tank = no more snails.
5. The stuff has a crystal-clear residual effect.
6. In higher vertebrates like horses, etc., the stuff passes through the gastrointestinal tract faster than it does in an aquarium when shrimp and the like ingest it. However, since fenbendazole must come into contact with detoxifying organs to be broken down—which is not the case here—very little of it is absorbed. A little bit always gets through, that should be clear, right? Thus, most of the fenbendazole is excreted in the feces and just lies around.
So for the stuff to actually come out, you have to really go all out and change the water, more often per week and cleaning the ground/gravel.

In other words, praziquantel is most effective when the dose is dissolved in a few drops of alcohol before being fed to the fish. When used in water, the effectiveness is at most 30%. When administered orally via food, it exceeds 80%. Provided the fish are still eating. If they are no longer eating, levamisole is a good option. This is absorbed through the gills and skin (to a small extent). This reliably kills Camalanus and Capillaria. Fenbendazole would be a milder option, but it must be repeated, and the substrate must be cleaned.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
