After about a year of lurking and skulking around in their tank my A. cf. gibbiceps have finally rewarded me with a nice clutch of young. There was a small spawn about 6 months ago which did not survive to the hatching point, but this batch is looking great and eating well. Will post a few dismal pictures later. The split tail on the female is a result of an injury near as I can figure.

I have to say it. This is not A. cf. gibbiceps. It is a pertensis-complex species, probably A. cf. pertensis. Nevertheless it's a wonderful species and breeding it is a very good accomplishment. Congratulations!

Many thanks for the information. I shall let the person I got them know as well. They are such very shy little fish I never know just what is going on in that tank, so these fry were a bit of a shock.

The babies are still doing well I am even more diligent with them now than before as I just discovered the male floating. When I saw the split tail I was a bit surprised.

The babies are still doing well, growing nicely. However interestingly enough momma no longer has anything to do with them. I of course knew the day would come when she pretty much abandoned them but it came sooner than I expected. they have been on their own for almost two weeks now.
