Apistogramma cacatuoides color morph

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum but not to keeping dwarf cichlids. I just had a question on the different color morphs on Apisto cacatuoides. I'm looking to add a pair to my tank but I wanted to know if anyone knew the difference between the triple red and the mega red color morph. I want to keep and breed the ones with the brightest and most color. Any advice would be great!

Me neither...

The 'extra red' colour morphs are lab bread forms. They explore the genetic potential of the original wild forms.
Often they disappear after a few generations of spontaneous breading. As the genetic potential for red fins is not in the same chromosome as the gender, the females also can transport the trait for red fins. If the lab selection transmits 'the red' to the females, the colourings will be easier to maintain for more generations...
The more red they insert in the fins, the harder it is to make stable in the females(where it normally is recessive) ...

All these colour morphs are not natural forms of colouring, nor official, so everyone (breeder, importer, seller/LFS) can give it whatever name they want...

I saw someone selling a pair on Aquabid .They called them "MegaRed" apistos and the red on them was really intense. Here's the link...

Commercial names are just that ... commercial names. The seller can call them whatever they want. Buy what looks best. I know this is difficult to do sight unseen. Hopefully photos of fish are like the fish sold to you, but there are no guarantees.
