Apistogramma borellii Question

Hi
New to the forum here. And new to the aquarium world
I just set up my beautiful new 54 gallon take about 3 months ago ... havnt had a set up for about 15 year and boy have I missed it.

I have a fantastic aquarium store near by that always has great fish. Recently I purchased 2 Cory's from them that were in the same tank as the Apistogramma borellii. I have been eyeing up the Apisto's form the beggining but thought they were alittle pricey especially for my new tank ... but thought i would so some research about them and maybe one day. Well when I got home with my 2 Cory's (which i now have 5 of and its so much fun to watch them play) in the bag was alittle female Apistogramma borellii that the guy mustve caught in the net at the same time and some how missed! Who am I to argue for getting a free fish!

My question here now is ... should I get her a friend. She is shy so far but has been getting along fine with her tank mates and comes out to eat with everyone else and eats everything she can! But I'm affraid she is lonly ... or is it too soon to know. I have a bunch of neons in there that i saw her swim with ... and i saw her sitting with the German Blue Ram i have too.

Any suggestions? If she'll be ok alone i may just leave it that way ... or should I get her a friend? Male or female or both?

I would ask the people at the Aquarium shop... but they are business people and I know what their answer will be! Plus i dont want them to know I got the freebie!

Thanks !
Kris

Cichlids tend not to get 'lonely' if they are the only one of their species in a tank. Tetras & cory cats are different. The do better in schools. If you are happy with just the 1 borellii, then let it stay that way.
