Hello, what apistogramma is this wild caught male?
I'm between A. macmasteri and A. sp. D50.

I bought them (8) as A. agassizii wild... clearly not.

Definitely not A. macmasteri. I'd say A. hongsloi wildform. Maybe a local variant. The tint, while nice, tricks with the eye.

Thanks for answering MacZ. Now I took out all the extra tint plus a bonus: his girl with fry!

You really think is a hongsloi?

Pretty sure. Wild type is quite rare, most in the hobby are of a domestic strain. Could also be one of the A. >cf.< hongsloi variations.

No, you didn't. ;) I mean, maybe of the video material, but not of the tankwater. You can still see the colouration of the water. That's what I referred to. ;) Not much you can do about that on film.

Can you explain the deciding difference? I've been staring at pictures last night a lot. Might have missed something.

It's not hongsloi but rather A. sp. Schwarzkehl/Black-throat (theoretically there are two other possibilities: D29 and D30. But the latter two are from far more remote areas and afaik have not yet been commercially available).
Wow, then they are like, rare. Thanks Frank!
