All i know which isn't much is my wc a. pucallpaensis have lots of black spots but the kids don't. Mind you i dont' raise very many of the kids as well i can't handle millions and billions of a. pucallpaensis but i do have a few.

Totally unrelated but the kids are a lot smaller than the parents probably because i keep them in a relatively small aquarium.

@Tom C very interesting phenomenon. Any reports of Brazilian fish having these black spots as well?

Catch location for both male and female is rio purus.

Yes, I have seen A. sp. "Abacaxis" with black spots. Interestingly in that case the offspring never got it, although they stayed with their spotted parents for quite a long time.

My guess is that there are several black-spot causes. All I know is that none of my Cristal fry develop the black spots and they are usually kept with the adults for 2 - 3 months or more. None of the F2s and later offspring have ever shown spots either, so it seems to be environmental rather than genetic.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
