Hello all,
I'm just trying to get an idea of what this dark pigmentation might be. He otherwise acts and eats normally. Temp is set at 75 F and water is changed weekly, PH of around 7.5. He had a mate in the tank, but she vanished.. not sure on that one. Thanks!

It looks like the “black spots disease”.
Its a parasite infects the scale (and maybe skin, not sure).
It’s not harmful to the fish and as far as i could read, there is no treatment for it.
It won’t carry on to potential fry, as far as i know.
I’m no expert.

@rasmusW Thanks for the response. That was all I could come up with as well. Since this ones mate seems to have passed I'm toying with the idea of just moving him over to my community, but I don't want to bring anything contagious with him.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
