Here is a single shot of my "Dolly" pebas that I received from Aquaticclarity (Thanks Jeff great fish) I lost one of the pair due to it getting trapped between some rocks in my QT tank.. Got another pair due to arrive today...
Here are some more photos of fish fom the same import with the dominant male and female in the tank in aggressive mode. I can get some pics of a non-dominant female and male if need be.
They look like A. sp. Pebas alright. They don't look like the photo originally sent me in 1999 by the Panduros (Ornamental Amazon Fish Aquarium). The males showed a LOT of yellow on the body and fins. I tried to see if the photos were still on their site, but couldn't find them. Other photos of A. sp. Pebas (Dolly) on the internet look more like your fish.
I pulled the two fish pictured above out of the tank full and set them up in their own 15 gallon with some tetras yesterday. With in 3-4 hours the female was guarding eggs!!! Now to see if the eggs are fertile...
Good luck with the new spawn.
They seem like a nice Apistogramma and maybe as they become more acclimated more of the yellow in the caudal will intensify?
