Hello fellow apisto keepers!

New to this forum. Recently got back into the hobby and loving it more than ever. I purchased a pair of apistos- sold to me as Apisto Macmasteri. Attached is a picture of what I believe to be the male. About 2.5 inches. Is it a macasteri? Male? There isn’t much red which is causing me to question if it’s even a macmasteri. Thanks in advance!

very pretty fish, but i think it's a young male apistogramma eunotus, definitely not a macmasteri. Do you have images of the female?

You are almost right Aquaticloch, it's actually A. cf. eunotus (Schwanzstreifen/Tail-stripes).
