Apisto. Cacatuoides Fungus/Parasite?

Hello,

I've noticed two unusual white growths around the head of my younger male apisto. Before I attempt to treat him I took a few pics in hopes of getting a definite diagnosis. The growths do not appear very fuzzy, but do protrude a bit.

His other lateral side appears fine.

It looks like fungus to me. I can't say if it is due to disease, physical injury, or poor water values. Since fungus on live fish is a secondary problem, it's important to fix the primary cause as well as the fungus.

Hi all,
I'd be a bit worried about him, he doesn't look very healthy all around with that large swollen stomach and bulging eyes. He may just be stunted, or it may be an internal problem (possibly parasitic worms, nematodes?).

Are you in the UK?

Im in the states. I will go to my lfs and see what i can find. How tolerant are they of medications in water?

I just looked in on him and noticed his abdomen is not distended anymore. I did just feed brine shrimp before I took the photos and he was very eager.

Before spending good money on medicine for an unknown problem, I would test for pH, NH3, NO2, and NO3. All you may need is multiple small water change over several day. I have seen such fungal problems on fish kept in too acidic, organic-rich water (Yes, guilty as charged:redface.
