Ap. Cacatuoides Male or Female?

Hi

I just bought a pair of the above mentioned species.
Below is a picture of the "female" that was in the same bag with the male.
Looking at its physical characteristics, i'm starting to suspect its a male.
Can someone help me out in this? thanks

Recently, there has been a confusion in the local scene where "male-looking" female cacatuoides are able to lay eggs and spawn even when they look very much like a male.

Hi there,

I'm inclined to say female, body shape in my eyes looks more typical of female than the heavier built male. What colour form is the male???

As you've said, the females in the domestic strains are certainly picking up a lot more of the male traits with coloration in the fins and I'm sure in a few cases what appears to be a slightly lyreate tail.

I agree, female. The ventral fins have too much black for a male. It is a mature fish (caudal fin is squared off with slight tips). If it were a male, I would expect it to have higher dorsal spines.
