Well it seems selection is limited; any opinion on those two species as dithers for an 18 inch tall aquarium (60 gallons 48x60); one concern off hand is initially plants will be very limited though over time i might be able to get some val or pso to grow.
Having had both, either will work fine (as dither fish?). N. marilynae will spend time in upper/middle layer of plants, N. unifasciatus at the top of the plants no matter how high they've grown.
I like most Nannostomus species but in your 60 inch I'd go with the N. unifasciatus because they are one of the larger pencils. I think they would be more noticeable than the smaller N. marilynae.
Thank small 1/4 inch green neon they are selling these days
Actually i'm not concern about them swallowing them whole as much as killing them and hten eating them. Anyway the tank is large enough for a few species of dithers and i might try moving somethings around. I have a certain fondness to green neon and ember tetra and i've used ember tetra before with passive breeding apistogrammade with success in raising frys. I did order a bit of both of the mentioned species but i think i'm going to put the marilynae with the c. hastatus (20 long) and the unifasciatus with the ortegai.
