Agasizzi's and hongsloi- Good tankmates?

I have a trio of juvenile(unknown sex at this point) agasizzi in a 20 long. I have a pair of male hongsloi in a custom 25 that has a slow leak. Would it be ok to move the hongsloi over to the 20 long while I break down the 25 and reseal it? I am thinking that I can just add more structure, and it should be ok? yes?

ps. elapsed time on the project will probably be about a month or so, just knowing myself, marriage, two kids, and day job.

My tip is to rtemove all tankmates, reset the aquarium with more hidding spots and formations and then add all together at once. This will mean that previous territories are nil and void and all will start again to gain their place in the system. That is what I do. Cheer jk :biggrin:
ps me marriage , 4 kids and day job with 7 tanks...so go for it

the elapsed time part is the resealing of the tank, not switching them over. But that is good advice, it is what I do with my mbuna when introducing new fishes.

Hi, this is what I do with most of my new fish that I introduce to an established tank. When I had the rift cichlids and tanjans, then I most certainly changed the structures. I kept this also with the Apistos and other south american cichlids, otherwise you are asking for trouble, because the fish in an already set up tank have got their boundaries worked out. If you then introduce new fish, then they have a hard time establishing themselves, however if you change the structures of driftwood, rocks caves etc, then all will feel like being in a new environment and eases the clashes. cheers jk

So, everyone seems to be doing ok. I added structure and re-arranged existing structure, and they seem all right. Now to get to the process of emptying the gravel, cleaning the tank, cutting out the old silicone, applying new silicone, letting it cure, and then either putting the old fish back in, or doing different fish.

Sounds like you have resolved your original question so I will give you a little advise about repairing your tank.
Once you have removed all the old silicone with a razor blade there will still be some residual sealant on the glass. Use acetone to remove all the traces so you get a good solid bond with the new seal. Acetone is one of the few solvents which can remove silicone sealants.

How did it work out putting them together? I have the same 2 species and wanted to put them both in a 48x18x18 tank. Would they be ok together in there or should I keep them in seperate tanks?
