A fish book I have lists a fish African Dwarf Humphead and lists its name as: Steatocranus cf. ubanguiensis, but I can't seem to find any information online about this fish and whenever I search something with "Humphead" in it I just get a bunch of information about Frontosa's.

Anyone have any ideas about this fish and is it commonly available? I like the way it looks in my book and wanted a little more information.

Which book is this? Many of the older books use an incorrect name or junior synonym. There is a S. ubanguiensis, but it is rather rare in the hobby.

There are several Steatocranus in the hobby, but only a few are considered common. Even fewer are truly dwarf. Probably the smallest that is around sporadically is S. sp. 'Red Eye'. The most common in the hobby is S. casuarius, but it is not a dwarf. S. gibbiceps is smaller, less common... but still not truly dwarf. S. tinanti is very common, smaller in mass (because it is so slender) and males usually stay under 8". S. sp. 'dwarf' exists. I had a few once. They stayed very small, but the male did not develop a hump (just a small bump). They were very mean and killed each other off pretty quick.
