Hi everybody,

I stumbled across some A.Uaupesi at a lfs in the Seattle area and of course bought a male and female to put in to a 20g.long. Need some
advice on water conditions. I would use RO treated with peat. PH ?
TEMP? thanks for any help you could give me GARY W.

PS Dieter Bork has written that his males keep killing the females!

A. Uaupesi is a great fish! They are a little on the "tough" side of apisto-keeping because they do best in very very soft and acidic water (ph <5,5 ), as productivity goes... As far as temperature, anything between 24- 28 degrees has been more that fine for keeping them... and as for the males being too aggressive and killing females before/during/after spawning, I haven't really heard or seen that too much at all! As long as you have enough hiding spaces (clay pots/ coconut shells/ java moss) for them to get away from routine cichlid behaviors/ sqwabbles, the violence wouldn't get to the point of fish losing it's life. Once again, have fun with them as they are a delightful little fish!

Well I gotta tell you the first female didn't make it. Not sure if was tank
parms or the male. 2nd female now has far more places to hide. I'm
using pure RO water mixed with peat water made from RO.
Taking PH down slow to 5.5 . thanks for your help.
Gotta go and feed new babies. new clutch of A.Bits, orange flash cacs.
and trip.red aggies....... all in the same morning!!!!!! if it don't rain it pours!!! thanks again GARY W.
