There is a new species that has currently not made its' way to the US yet, but a few have hit Japan. It is a pretty impressive species out of Peru, but I have no more specific info about it than that. Julio Melgar will be sending some of these to the US in a few weeks and it will probably make its debut at the ACA convention. I am sure it will carry a fairly stiff pricetag initially and then drop off as the buzz subsides.
It is another member of the nijsenni group, which seems to be getting quite a lot of attention lately. Like the not-quite-as-new Lyretail Panduro (which has many similarities to the original Panduro), the High-finned Nijsenni is a very similar species to the original. However, it looks to be interesting enough to create a stir for awhile. Take a look.

These are the only pics of this new species around right now, but you can see that it has some pretty good qualities. Note the oval tail of the female.
The Japanese have gotten this fish before anyone else again. I am sure it is because they were down there when it was first collected with a fistfull of $. Those are some motived aquarists in Japan 8O . I guess they deserve to get this kind of stuff first, because they are willing to pay a premium to get it.
Keep your eyes out - it won't be long.
